NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN AGRICULTURE
Admission requirements: A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the Uganda National Certificate in Agriculture program on meeting any of the following minimum qualifications:
i) OrdinaryLevel Entry Scheme
A candidate should have obtained a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 3 credit passes one of which must be in Agriculture, Biology, or Chemistry and must have passed English and Mathematics.
ii) Certificate Entry Scheme
At least a credit in Uganda Junior Technical Certificate from a recognized institution in any of the fields or any other field as approved by the Selection Committee constituted by the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Duration: 2 years.
Career prospects: Agricultural Farm Manager, Agricultural Field Assistant, Self-Employed, Farm or Input Supply Shop Attendant, Nursery Bed Attendant, Agro-Processing Assistant and Agricultural Design Assistant.
Opportunities for further studies: Diploma in Agribusiness Management, Diploma in Agriculture, Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture and Extension, Diploma in Crop Production and Management.
NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN HORTICULTURE
Admission requirements: A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the Certificate program if he/she holds the
Uganda Certificate of Education (“O” Level) or its equivalent, with at least five passes in any of the following subjects including English
and Mathematics: Entrepreneurship, Biology, Agriculture, Commerce, Accounts, Home Economics and Geography
OR A holder of a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Agriculture or business related field is also eligible for admission.
Duration: 2 years.
Career prospects: Greenhouse attendant, Assistant Field Officer, Start on farm and Assistant Farm Manager.
Opportunities for further studies: Diploma in Agribusiness Management, Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture and Extension, Diploma in Agriculture and Diploma in Crop Production and Management.
NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN LIVESTOCK MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP(CLME)
Admission requirements: A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the Certificate program if he/she holds the
Uganda Certificate of Education (“O” Level) or its equivalent, with at least five passes in any of the following subjects including English
and Mathematics: Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry, Home Economics, Geography, Commerce and Entrepreneurship. A holder of a Certificate,
Diploma, or Degree in Agriculture or biological sciences related field is also eligible for admission.
Duration: 2 years.
Career prospects: Animal Husbandry Officer, Farm Manager and Start own livestock farm.
Opportunities for further studies: Diploma in Agribusiness Management, Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture and Extension and Diploma in Animal Production and Management.
COMMUNITY POLYTECHNIC CERTIFICATE IN AGRICULTURE (CPCA)
Admission requirements: Entry primary 7 levers Certificate and aggregate below 28 or with senior four without requirement for the Certificate courses.
Duration: 2 years.
Career prospects: Agricultural Farm Manager, Agricultural Field Assistant, Self-Employed, Farm or Input Supply Shop Attendant, Nursery Bed Attendant, Agro-Processing Assistant and Agricultural Design Assistant.
Opportunities for further studies: Certificate in Agriculture, Certificate in Agribusiness Management, Certificate in Crop Production and Management, Certificate in Animal Production and Management and Certificate in Horticulture.
